Gold has no caste - no truer words have ever been spoken. A warrior, Petrus nevertheless finds himself more concerned with gold than honor these nights - though for a Karian, "honor" is always a dubious word, as likely to elicit a sneer as a smile. Working alternately as a ship's guard and a pirate raider, Petrus was finally able to purchase and supply his own vessel - a round ship name Treve's Maiden - after inheriting a tidy sum from his uncle.
He didn't have much gold remaining, and contented himself with runs to the smaller trade isles - Asperiche, Tabor and the like. He was lucky, and worked hard, and every cost he could cut by doing a job himself, he did. In a few years he was able to purchase and crew a second round ship, which he dubbed the Kneeling Tatrix. He ran cargo when he could, renting out cargo space and taking on passengers where necessary to bring in the coin.
Two years ago a third ship joined his motley fleet, this one a heavy tarn ship with a keel of 130 gorean feet long. He retired from the seas at that point, managing the business side of things and letting trust allies captain his ships. It was then that he struck a deal with Ibrahim Ben Eleek, taking over day-to-day management of the Silver of Tharna, a partnership with the city pre-eminent thief seeming to be - to him - a wise precautionary measure.
He left the city in a fury, taking command of the Warty Whore himself to track down the captain of Treve's Maiden - who had decided to run off with a hold full of Petrus' cargo. The two vessels met at sea - the Whore returned with more than twenty sailors-turned-kajirus to sell. The Maiden is presumed to be at the bottom of the Thassa.
With only two ships in his fleet, Petrus has come back home after over a year away at sea. He's heard rumors of turnover in the city, and does not yet know if his position at the Silver still awaits him - but he has other things on his mind. Having recently owned three ships, it occurs to him that three is not -THAT- far from five, the requisite number for the Council. He needs to replace the Maiden, and then acquire two more vessels. For that, the warrior needs gold.
